YouTube has some of the best educational content if you know where to look! Here are some of our favorite channels, sorted by topic.
General Knowledge:
- Kurzgesagt — With topics ranging from the sciences to philosophy, Kurzgesagt covers it all, featuring clear narration and charming animation.
- CGP Grey — Another great channel, featuring lectures on things you never even knew you wanted to learn about.
- Veritasium — high production value, and approachable looks at some complex topics.
- Tom Scott — The most documentarian of the set, Tom just goes around and does interesting things, bringing viewers along for the educational ride.
Math:
- 3Blue1Brown — The absolute best math channel around, and a must-watch for any student who reaches calculus and beyond.
- Numberphile — A more casual math channel, focused on fun, miniature lessons presented for students of all math levels.
- Stand-up Maths — Education meets humor in this well-produced, informative channel.
Science, Physics, and Engineering
- Mark Rober — At the end of the day, there’s simply no science channel as fun as Mark’s is.
- Stuff Made Here — For the engineering hard-cores, this channel goes through the drafting and construction steps of the most over-engineered machines imaginable.
- Steve Mould — Well-paced explanations and a likeable host, not to mention the high-effort demonstrations.
- Computerphile — Like Numberphile listed in the math section, but for computer science and programming.
- Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky — It may not have the catchiest name, and the narration/animation style might seem strange, but these videos do a great job at walking through some of the most complex topics in physics.
